PolicyEngine achieves full 50-state TANF coverage

PolicyEngine now models Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) for all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. Each state’s rules, covering benefit amounts, income and asset limits, child age requirements, and school enrollment provisions, are encoded in an open-source rules engine. The modeling relied on a multi-agent AI workflow in which AI agents structured policy parameters and generated test cases, while human reviewers validated accuracy.

With TANF complete, PolicyEngine covers income taxes, SNAP, Medicaid, CHIP, ACA subsidies, and TANF across all states and D.C. Explore the TANF models.
